The Thousandfold Thought is simply a great book and is the perfect way to end a series. My initial reaction to the first book was almost reluctance to continue the series, it seemed like a lot of clunky writing that bit off a little more then it could chew while not taking advantage of the things that made some of the parts excellent. I found The Thousandfold Thought another great read: not as good as the first but better than the second. Its major problem is that it just didn't seem long enough. Some key parts of the story (trying to avoid spoilers here) felt extremely brief given their importance and I have read that Bakker was under a lot more pressure to write quickly /5(9). The Thousandfold Thought is a bit of a nothing book, which meanders along until finally the Holy War arrives at Shimeh with barely a hundred pages remaining. The long awaited meeting between Kellus and his father reminded me of Neo meeting the Architect in the Matrix; I'm neither impressed or satisfied with the conclusion to this trilogy/5.

The thousandfold thought concludes what has been build upon in the last two books. I really liked the conclusion, although I am dying to know more about the deep lore, the consult and its motivations, the inchoroi and so on.
